Photographed over a period of 7 years, BÁNYA maps the diverse relationships between a rural Hungarian village and a growing heavy mining industry in the region.
Since his first visit in 2017, George Booth-Cole established connections with farmers, traders, and other local inhabitants, conducting interviews and documenting their personal and professional lives.
At a time of rapid economic change and government corruption in these rural areas, this work is a testament to a community facing the loss of its farming practices and traditions.
