Series is an attempt to examine Enrique Metinides’ work from the perspective of cinematography, sequentially revealing facts that come together in a substantial way to form a common motif with continuity — thematic at least — between the various episodes of his oeuvre.
This iconoclastic approach allows us to see that Enrique Metinides’ work exists between fact and fiction.
By showing that an act took place, that it really happened, the photographs vindicate both their real and fictional aspects. They also allow viewers to become aware of their own confusion as they struggle to take a position in relation to ambiguous material, making it possible to rediscover and redeploy their gaze.
