Sofia Coppola is an American film director, known for films such as The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation and Marie Antoinette. She and the fashion designer Marc Jacobs have been close friends and collaborators for more than twenty years.

Marc by Sofia is the companion book to Coppola's documentary of the same name. It follows Jacobs' career from his student days at Parsons and his famous grunge collection for Perry Ellis, to Louis Vuitton, his own label, and the preparation of his 2024 runway show. The book combines conversations between the two with hundreds of personal photographs and behind-the-scenes material from Jacobs' studio.
