“This scene stopped me dead in my tracks and I took the shot without much hesitation. The overwhelming convergence of lines, all leading to the subject, are holding him in a spiderweb of sorts. To me, the image contains a profound sense of sadness and surrender, while the lit up car in the far background teases the vague possibility of a way out, an escape or even a fresh start. It is a very special photograph to me, underlining the unexpected poetry offered by everyday geometry, as well as the secondary story hidden in most images.”
